This is my final hand project. It is about 4 inches by 3 inches. Since there was no red glaze available, I glazed it shadow green, washed off the face so the details were noticeable, and then i filled the dots in with dark blue to show depth. I also carved out the back of the lady bug to give it a three dimensional look and to give it depth as well. This was my most complex hand project and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. It had a lot of details and life life characteristics that improved it a lot!
This is my second hand project since my injury. I started off by making a wide pinch pot, then I added eyes, fins, and a tail and it became a whale. Since the project was very simple I decided to add a horn to it, and it became a narwhal. It is about 3 inches wide and 5 inches long and every part of this project is very well rounded. I glazed the whole project white, and then painted a dark blue glaze on the top so it would come out of the glaze kiln light blue. This idea worked very well and made it look more realistic because it was close in color. This is the last project on the wheel I made, a teapot. It took me roughly two weeks to complete the whole thing, and I'm more than happy with how it turned out. The shape of the handle and spout go very well with the round bowl structure and lid. I used light blue glaze for the base, handle, and top of the lid, ad used black for the bottom, base of the lid, and top of the spout. I alternated using these two colors because not only do they contrast well, they help highlight the different parts of the project. Instead of glazing the whole lid black, I put blue at the top to draw attention to the shape. As well as the black tip of the spout against the light blue color of it. And as well as the great shape and colors, it works very well as a teapot! My sister and I already tried it and are very pleased with the outcome. This is my favorite project of the year because of the time and effort I put into making it its best! This is my first hand project that I made while off the wheel. Its a realistic looking turtle that has many creases and edges to give it depth and character. I glazed the body, head, feet, and tail shadow green, and then washed off the spots on the turtles shell, eyebrows, and eyes and painted that will clear. These two colors contrast and compliment each other well and make the turtle look more life-like. I'm very pleased with how this turtle came out! This is my second theme choice project. I threw a wide, round bowl with a very compressed lip, and then I glazed it with black, blue, and green. When I was glazing, two colors mixed, and when it came out of the glaze kiln, the two colors blended to make a shiny silver color that you can faintly see in this picture. This shows my theme choice because while the bowl itself is plain and simple,. the glaze is complex, so you are able to focus more on the glaze since that is what draws your attention. This is probably one of my favorite projects I have made this year, just because of the unique glaze and shape of the bowl. This is my wheel altered project. I threw a regular bowl, then stopped the wheel and bent four corners outward. It gave the bowl a square and circular figure. With the glaze, I dipped the whole thing in black, and then wiped off three spots, where i painted on green. On the bottom of the green glaze, I painted it round to show the figure of the bowl more. The curved part of the green and black helps show the original round shape, while the straight line of green glaze at the top shows the square shape I altered the bowl to have. I am very happy with this project, however, I wish the green glaze was more solid. This is my first lidded project. I made it awhile back, so there are a few things I would do differently with the new techniques I have learned since then. It is about 4.5 inches tall, and about 5 inches wide. The glazes were a little washed away which I was disappointed in, but I love the pattern I used. I was very pleased with the shape of it, and overall I am pleased with the project, even if there is a few things I wish I could change. This is my first theme choice project. Since my theme is to alternate complexity and simplicity, I thought this plate would portray this perfectly. While the plate is simple, the glaze is complex, with four different colors, all different sizes. The simplicity of the project helps the glaze appear more noticeable since there is nothing to distract from it! This is my matched set. It consists of a bowl, plate, and cup. They are all colored dark blue and light green and the colors contrast nicely. My cup is 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. My bowl is about 3 inches tall, and 7 inches wide. My plate is about 1.5 inches tall, and 6.5 inches wide. I chose to make a plate, bowl, and cup because that is the basic dinner set. I am very pleased with the out come of the three and feel that they are the best projects i've mad This is my tall project. It is 4 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide. It was originally a cylinder until until I attached a handle to make it a cup. I glazed it with dark green on the outside and black on the inside. The two colors blended together at the top to make a pretty shadow look. The two colors compliment eachother because they b0th are deep, dark colors. I'm really pleased with how the glaze and handle turned out! |
